The Pumpkin Jack release date is October 23, at which point it will launch for PC, Switch, and Xbox One. Built using Unreal Engine 4 by Nicolas Meyssonier, the game is looking to provide roughly five to eight hours of gameplay. Pumpkin Jack will feature classic 3D platforming gameplay, along with Donkey Kong Country-style minecart sections, boss fights, and much more.

The new Pumpkin Jack release date trailer gives fans another glimpse at the gameplay. Besides showing off some of the platforming sections, Pumpkin Jack’s combat is also shown off in the trailer, reaffirming that it’s similar to the classic PS1 game MediEvil. The titular Pumpkin Jack will have a variety of different abilities at his disposal, which players will be able to utilize in the game’s many battles.

Pumpkin Jack joins many other games that are launching in an increasingly-crowded October. Besides Pumpkin Jack, there are a variety of horror games releasing this month that will be out in time for Halloween, including Remothered: Broken Porcelain, Amnesia: Rebirth, and The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope. And even though Pumpkin Jack is not a horror game, its Halloween-aesthetic should still make it a game fitting of the season. Whether or not it lives up to the legacy of the games that inspired it remains to be seen, but fans will find out later this month.
